Salary: $48,335.80 - $62,836.54 Annually Location : Journal Square Job Type: Full Time Staff Remote Employment: Flexible/Hybrid Job Number: 051920251 Cabinet Level: Student Affairs and Enrollment Office/School: Educational Opportunity Fund Opening Date: 05/19/2025 Closing Date: 6/16/2025 11:59 PM Eastern Position Description Hudson County Community College Position Vacancy Notification EOF Counselor Posting Date: May 19, 2025 Job Title: Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Academic Advisor Classification: Advisor Salary Grade: 109 Office: Office of Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Position Summary The Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) program, located organizationally in the Office of Student Affairs and Enrollment, seeks a full-time Academic Advisor. The Academic Advisor is responsible for providing general support for all EOF students. Summary of Duties Essential Responsibilities: Offer basic guidance and assistance in application completion, transfer opportunities, and course enrollmentto EOF students. Help students with the advisement process, explaining prerequisites and course sequencing. Follow office and institutional guidelines regarding documentation and maintenance of student records. Work with the EOF Director and Assistant Director to develop consistent communications and outreach to supplement those provided by the Academic Counselors for their respective cohorts of students. Direct students to campus resources such as tutoring, career and transfer services. Collaborate with all EOF staff to provide support and assistance with student events and workshops. Assist students with understanding academic requirements and course selections to fulfill academic goals. Provide information on academic policies, deadlines, and institutional procedures. Support on-campus operations including but not limited to drop-in students, and assistwith general student advisement questions. Flexibility to work occasionally during evenings and weekends for special events. Ability to work at both the Journal Square and North Hudson campuses. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Education, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field. Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and listening abilities focusing on understanding and supporting student needs. Problem-solving skills and innovative thinking. Preferred Qualifications: Competency in various computer software and SaaS platforms such as Microsoft Office suite, Airtable, or other CRM software. Experience working with culturally and socioeconomically diverse populations What Sets You Apart: Demonstrated ability to collaborate and adapt within a dynamic team environment. Bi-lingual ability is preferred, especially proficiency in Spanish or Arabic, to better serve our diverse student population. A proactive approach and willingness to learn new skills. Experience in a higher education setting, particularly working with a culturally and socioeconomically diverse student body. Experience with technologies such as Ellucian-Colleague and EAB Navigate preferred.
